The magician stands on stage next to a small stand. He explains to the audience that he’s going to try and read the entire audiences minds. He brings out 9 large plaques each containing the name of a location somewhere in the world. He sticks each of the plaques onto the stand in a 3 x 3 grid. The audience are asked to think of one of the locations on the grid. The magician asks the audience to make several moves, each time a square is removed from the grid and its blank back is shown. On the turn of the last square a giant sign saying “YOU ARE HERE” is on the back of this one plaque. The whole audience laughs and claps as they are indeed ALL together on that one plaque. There are several reasons why this is a great effect:- A) It is extremely lightweight to transport,
B) It is very cheap to construct,
C) It involves the whole audience to participate,
D) It takes up the same amount of time on stage as a large illusion – without the cost
E) It can be performed solo with no assistants
F) If you do work with an assistant this is something that they could perform while the magician is off stage changing costumes by either the assistant talking the audience through it or with a voice over on your sound track. Completely Self working and easy to perform.
